The SpeedNabber speed display is designed to provide speeding offender information suitable for display and photo enforcement purposes. The basic principle implemented in this system is to use a Doppler radar to determine the instantaneous velocity of a vehicle as it passes through a monitored road section.

The SpeedNabber can include an optional image capture camera (color or infrared) which is searching for vehicle license plates. When a license plate is detected, the system records the velocity of the vehicle from the radar information. In the event the speed of the vehicle is deemed excessive, the system creates a transaction and stores the detected velocity from the Doppler radar along with the image and the automatically extracted license plate number. In all other cases the data is discarded.
The SpeedNabber can be used in a variety of situations that require speed monitoring and identification of speeding drivers.
